Performs general clerical duties including filing, processing lab specimens and is able to handle all office equipment.Must be able to utilize LIS and able to handle all phone calls and interaction with physician's offices, etc. in a courteous and professional manner.Locates sorts and files needed information, materials or records and paperwork, both medical and general. Prepares reports and computes statistics, along with knowledge of medical terminology.Accessions test requests in LIS, reference lab systems.Assists in preparing samples for analysis- i.e. centrifugation, bar coding, and distribution. Reviews request forms for completion and compliance.The clerk distributes mail to proper departments along with collating reference laboratory reports.Maintains employee time card hours, as directed by Department Director.Timely issuance of laboratory charges and credit memos.Exhibits initiative to increase his/her knowledge through on the job training and in-service programs.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in a laboratory setting preferred; experience as a clerk in an acute care facility preferred.
