The Surgery service consists of 7- operating rooms (OR) and performs a wide variety of surgical procedures including General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Oral, Podiatry, Laparoscopic minimally invasive procedures. Our Orthopedics program includes total joint replacement, spinal procedures and sports medicine. Pain management and Gastroenterology procedures are also performed in the OR settings. Surgical services throughout the perioperative areas goal is to optimize clinical outcomes, patient safety, and patient experience and create superior value.
Supporting shared decision-making initiatives, at the hospital and system levels, results in a superior patient experience. The Surgical Services leadership strives to ensure smooth and efficient operations of this department and lead the team to provide quality outcomes. The unit remains operational with round the clock coverage 7 days a week.
The RN is responsible for providing individualized and goal-directed nursing care to patients through the use of the nursing process. The nursing process includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. In the absences of the Assistant Head Nurse, the RN will assume the authority and responsibility for the operation of the nursing unit for a specific shift.
REQUIREMENTS: NYS RN License and Registration required. BSN required or proof of current enrollment in BSN program. BLS Certifications required; CORN highly preferred. Three years experience preferred in OR department of an acute care facility required. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills required.
