Bilingual (Spanish) Bereavement Specialist
Good Shepherd Hospice is a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island and an integral part of the health care ministry of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Our organization promotes the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being both of the person completing life's journey and their family members, providing comprehensive and compassionate end-of-life care of the highest quality. Our team of professionals, caregivers and trained volunteers are dedicated to providing both medical and emotional support to patients and families. We currently employ more than 200 staff members and have a volunteer core of over 100 dedicated people.

The Bilingual (Spanish) Bereavement Specialist will be responsible for facilitating bereavement support groups for both Hispanic children and their families. The specialist may assist with community/educational forums to identify grieving children that may benefit from group services and the broader Bereavement program at Good Shepherd Hospice.
- Master's degree in Social Work from a NY State Department of Education and Council of Social Work Education accredited school required
- Minimum of 2 years prior clinical experience in the healthcare field, specific to bereavement and counseling services for severely ill or terminally ill patients and their family
- Current Licensure by the New York State Department of Education as a Social Worker
- Bilingual English/Spanish
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the psychological, emotional, cognitive, medical, social and behavioral stages of childhood grief. Consideration will be given to those with prior group experience.
