Assistant of Volunteer Services

Good Shepherd Hospice is a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island and an integral part of the health care ministry of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Our organization promotes the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being both of the person completing life's journey and their family members, providing comprehensive and compassionate end-of-life care of the highest quality. Good Shepherd helps patients and their families live each day fully, focusing on quality of life, control of symptoms and the things that matter to them the most.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in the coordination of all phases of the Hospice Volunteer Services Program:

Recruitment, selection and training of volunteer applicants

Assigning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating volunteers

Assisting with the development of volunteer recognition programs.

Maintaining accurate volunteer records, providing statistical reporting

Facilitating good communication between all members of Hospice; staff, volunteers, patient and family

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in behavioral science or other health-related studies, or equivalent experience, excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills, experience using MS Office; including Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to speak publicly and present training material.
