The Bereavement Specialist is responsible for enacting the bereavement care plan for family members and significant others of division hospice patients, by direct delivery of bereavement care that is both consistent with the hospice patient and family's needs and with hospice philosophy, goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the psychological, emotional, cognitive, medical, social and behavioral stages of grief as well as professional training and prior clinical experience in providing individual, couples, family and group counseling. Familiarity with the hospice concept and its implementation preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current NYS license and registration to practice social work
  • Minimum of two years of supervised work experience in a health care or related setting
  • Master's degree in social work, mental health nursing or other mental health profession from accredited academic institution
