Communications Specialist, Internal Communications (Internal Position)

Catholic Health Services of Long Island (CHS) is an integrated health care delivery system with some of the region's finest health and human services agencies. CHS includes six hospitals, three skilled nursing facilities, a regional home nursing service, hospice and a multiservice, community-based agency for persons with special needs. Under the sponsorship of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, CHS serves hundreds of thousands of Long Islanders each year, providing care that extends from the beginning of life to helping people live their final years in comfort, grace and dignity.

Work with the manager of internal communications in the development and implementation of an internal communications plan. Responsible for writing employee communications, to build growing awareness and engagement of all employees at the system and entity level. Assist the manager of internal communications in defining and implementing multiple channels to reach all CHS employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Must work well in a fast-paced environment with responsibility for team objectives as well as individual deliverables.
  • Support and execute internal communication initiatives in partnership with teams across CHS.
  • Draft and review communications and announcements that supports CHS objectives.
  • Craft focused messaging around various topics for the intranet, digital screens, newsletters, videos, profiles, presentations, blogs and patient testimonials.
  • Explore new ways to speak to employees using innovative multimedia platforms to engage them.
  • Work with manager of internal communications to outline clear editorial strategy aligned with the communications calendar.
  • Edit documents for consistency in style and tone of voice for various employee groups in CHS.
  • Source and package content from internal and external resources to develop engaging narratives.
  • Provide communications and logistics support as needed.
  • Must maintain attention to detail and have the ability to remain flexible and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accountable for supporting the tactical coordination and execution of employee communication.
  • Coordinate with corporate marketing team for digital communications needs.
  • Identify and implement analytics to measure effectiveness of communications and channels.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in employee communications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills must have a proven track record of physician communications as a writer
  • Excellent time management and deadline management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a creative, fast-paced environment that emphasizes excellence and teamwork
  • Excellent organizational, and project management skills
  • Travel in Suffolk and Nassau counties
