Facility: St Charles Hospital Location: Port Jefferson, NY Department: Neonatal ICU Category: Nursing / Nursing Leadership Schedule: Per Diem Shift: Varied hours Hours: varies ReqNum: 6005368 The role of the neonatal intensive care nurse (NICU nurse) is to provide direct and specialized care for newborns needing close monitoring due to premature birth, birth defects, infection, or other medical conditions. The NICU RN assists in developing and implementing a plan of care for high-risk newborns requiring high-technology care, including mechanical ventilation, and other special equipment. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited School of Nursing and maintain current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in NYS. BSN preferred. Critical care experience with neonates is required, as well as current BLS & NRP certifications.
