Physical Therapist Aide - outpatient, per diem

JOB SUMMARY: assists in patient treatments including preparation and clean-up of treatment areas. Performs clerical and reception functions for the inpatient Physical Therapy Dept. Follows all department and hospital policies and procedures and conducts him/herself in a professional, courteous and compassionate manner.


a.Education – high school graduate.

b.Licensure/Certification – none.

c.Experience –one to two years of related experience (ie: medical secretary and/or patient care assistant experience) preferred. Experience with Word and Excel preferred.

d.Physical Demands – physically able to mobilize patients with staff (with safe patient handling devices as appropriate), assist in ambulating patients on level surfaces and stairs, sit for extended periods of time at desk/computer, plus wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.

a.Maintains treatment areas and equipment.

b.Aids therapists in patient treatments ie; ambulation and transfers, under therapist supervision.

c.Answers telephones and greets patient and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner.

d.Communicates with patients and families exhibiting unconditional positive regard, including empathy, compassion, and respect.

e.Exhibits competency in using EPIC to determine patient locations and therapist assignments, run reports, etc.

f.Performs clerical functions including photocopying, data collection, Lawson requisition entry, Word and Excel entries.

g.Assures that department supplies and linens are stocked.
