Physician Practice Clinical Manager

St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center is located on the north shore of Long Island in Smithtown. The campus is comprised of 296-bed not-for-profit community hospital; a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation care center; and a 60,000 square foot medical office building.
This non-profit hospital offers a wide range of state-of-the-art medical services designed for prevention, early detection and treatment of healthcare problems. St. Catherine offers full range of healthcare services, from primary, tertiary and quaternary services to specialty and sub specialty diagnosis and treatment.
The Physician Practice Clinical Manager provides overall administration and coordination of the department's activities and programs. The Physician Practice Manager is responsible for total patient care within the practice and for ongoing evaluation and management of patient care within the department.
Practice Clinical Manager provides overall administration and coordination of
department activities and programs in a physician practice/ambulatory setting,
and is responsible for total patient care within the practice, and for the
ongoing evaluation and management of patient care within the department. This includes coordinating the services of all
contributing disciplines and administering the nursing component of the care
within the espoused nursing philosophy.
The incumbent is guided by a comprehensive knowledge of current nursing
theory and practice; knowledge of organization and departmental functions;
policies, regulations, and procedures of the practice; knowledge and
application of principles of leadership. Supports one to three physicians in
- Oversees all administrative and
clinical support staff.
- Ensures adequate staffing and
appropriate work schedules with oversight of recruitment, training, directing,
coaching and counseling of staff.
- Oversees business development
activities, all day to day operations including accounts payable and
receivables, budget analysis, staff payroll, personnel interactions, billing,
email and phone communications.
- Updates all policies and procedures to
- Obtains all pre-certification
authorizations required for in-patient admission or ambulatory encounters from
insurance carrier or managed care company.
- Supports administrative decision and
changes within the department.
- Certified Medical Assistant and/or Licensed
Practical Nurse required; Registered Nurse with Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 5 years of Healthcare or Business
Administration experience required.
- Experience in team based environment
