Facility: St Catherine of Siena Med Ctr Location: Smithtown, NY Department: Respiratory Care Unit Category: Direct Care / Aides Schedule: Part Time, With Weekend and Holiday rotation Shift: Night shift Hours: 11pm-7am ReqNum: 6031209 DUTIES: Performs a variety of duties which are patient focused such as, but not limited to, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, shaving, mouth care); performs AM & PM care; takes & records patient's vital signs; performs simple PT Therapy treatments such as positioning & assisting patients to ambulate with use of assistive devices. Performs simple specimen collection such as urine, stool, and sputum. Maintains pt. restraint checklist. Performs post-mortem care duties on deceased patient. Assists in maintaining skin integrity by turning and positioning patient on frequent basis. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or GED equivalency required. Must have completed a CNA training class and/or completed Fundamentals of Nursing in a nursing program. Must have 1-year recent experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care facility. Nursing Assistant certification preferred but not required. Psych position requires 2 years experience with psychiatric patients. BLS certification recommended. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to operate simple medical equipment. Ability to access and navigate computer system. Ability to communicate in a tactful, diplomatic way.
