Assistant Nurse Manager - Neuro ICU

Responsible for the delivery of evidence-based patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Responsible for the coordination of assignments that meet the appropriate standard of care for patient's acuity to staff and organize teams based on Novice to Expert theory; lead unit in providing direction and guidance; participate in staff development and training while performing as a mentor and resource person; participate in the completion of Performance Appraisals for nursing and support staff; management of a unit for a specific shift in the absence of the Nurse Manager, as well as liaison between the physician, patient and family.

Current New York State License as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required. Prior experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager or clinical coordinator preferred. Specialty certification required in the area of clinical practice or within 1 year of hire. Must have knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, regulatory codes, personnel and administrative policies.

Minimum of 2 years Critical Care experience or 3 years of step down unit/medical-surgical experience required. Cardiac and invasive monitoring knowledge and arrhythmia interpretation skills required.

BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:

1. American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS/PALS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program

2. American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
