Cardio- Thoracic Laboratory Technologist

Responsible for moderately complex Point of Care Laboratory testing.Minimal six years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory, having a director at the doctoral level.Overseeing and Supervising Laboratory Technicians insuring the proper performance of laboratory procedures.Cardiovascular functions and tasks associated with the performance of routine duties as they relate to patients experiencing surgical and peri-surgical procedures. Assisting Anesthesiologist with patient monitoring, and invasive line insertions.Knowledge of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump to assist upon insertion, monitoring and maintenance. Familiar with sterile procedures and the OR environment.The Stocking of supplies for Cardio-Thoracic Anesthesia, CT Lab, and invasive line carts for CTICU. Area of services provided by the CT Lab: OR, PACU, CTICU.

Qualifications: NYS Department of Education Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist (ASCP preferred) required.

Minimal6 years' experience preferred.

Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:

1. American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program

2. American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
