POSITION SUMMARY:The Lead APP reports directly to the Supervisor covering that area and then to the Director.This role involves oversight of physician assistants (PA) and nurse practitioners (NP) in a medical/surgical field in the inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
Responsibilities include;
Planning, coordinating and participating in the delivery of APP services.
Adheres to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures, as well as all regulatory agency requirements.
Promoting and communicating commitment, values and ethics within the department.
Assisting with orientation of new hires and ensures employee has a clear understanding of position duties and responsibilities, policies and procedures, fire and safety regulations and other requirements.
Assisting the Supervisors and Director in developing standards of performance for APP's, evaluating performance in a timely manner, including annual evaluations, and initiating or making recommendations for personnel actions.
Keeping abreast of current literature and professional trends.
Attends meetings and participates on committees as directed.
Requirements;
PA-Bachelor's degree, Masters preferred.
Must be a graduate of a CAHEA approved Physician Assistant program or accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Licensure/Certification: Current NYS license as a PA or NP in the field of medicine/surgery in which they are privileged.
Clinical expertise as a PA in the field of medicine/surgery in which they are privileged.Excellent communication, problem solving, critical thinking and leadership.
Must be collaborative and team-oriented.Exhibit caring and compassion.
Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
At least five years clinical experience in Neurosurgery
Prior supervisory or leadership experience, preferred, but not required
